Chinese premium new energy vehicle brand Denza has signalled bold ambitions for the Australian and New Zealand markets, declaring its intention to compete directly with established luxury leaders including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Lexus.

Speaking at the local launch of the B5 and B8 in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges, Denza ANZ chief operating officer Mark Harland said the brand intends to mix it with the top five premium marques in its first full year on sale.

That would require annual volumes comparable to brands currently selling between 10,000 and 20,000 vehicles per year in Australia.
